The tradition of growing grapes in the Villány wine region dates back to the Romans, who already lived in the III. grapes were grown here in the 19th century. In addition to Hungarians, Serbs and Germans also contributed to the development of viticulture and winemaking over the centuries. Zsigmond Teleki, the founder of the winery, was both a keeper of traditions and an innovator of European viticulture. Thanks to his work, after the phylloxera epidemic, grape growing was revived in Europe with the help of suitable subjects.
