A new era in mobile banking: free QR code payments from September 1
From September 1, the range of mobile banking services for Hungarian bank customers will be expanded with a significant innovation: from now on, they can also initiate payments by scanning a QR code, completely free of charge. According to information from Portfolio, the new payment solution called qvik will be used both for online purchases and at store checkouts.
The qvik system not only enables simple and fast payment, but also promises cost-effectiveness for customers, since the use of the service will be completely free of charge. However, it won’t necessarily be free for merchants: while banks plan to charge a fee for accepting qvikes payments, the cost could still be lower than traditional card acceptance fees.
Before the introduction of the new service, several stores already tested the qvik system, so it is expected to become widely available in the near future. In addition, according to the news, at least one other major bank is also preparing some kind of innovation this month, so Hungarian bank customers are looking forward to an exciting time. With the introduction of qvik, the Hungarian banking market takes another step towards the wider distribution of digital payment solutions, which further strengthens the popularity and availability of mobile banking among customers
