New Communications Manager at Novartis Hungary
The management position will be held by Beáta Smid from October 15, 2025. The Swiss-based global company views communication and cooperation with patient communities as a strategic pillar, as they play a key role in strengthening trust, developing partnerships and shaping the healthcare environment. The new leader will be tasked with making this even more prominent in Hungary by coordinating the operation of the two areas.
The professional has been working in the field of marketing and communications for more than twenty years. During her career, she has held professional and management positions at multinational financial institutions such as Allianz and UniCredit Bank, and most recently at Citibank, where she was responsible for corporate relations and communications in Hungary as well as in the company’s Central European region. She has achieved outstanding results in a highly regulated and highly competitive industry, where reputation and reliability are just as crucial as in the pharmaceutical industry. She is an expert in reputation management, crisis communication and innovative communication solutions, which she will be able to leverage in her new role.
“I am delighted to continue my career in a new area that is particularly inspiring and important to me. In line with the company’s goals, I would like to further strengthen our cooperation with patient organizations through joint work and open dialogue, as a relationship based on trust and mutual understanding contributes to increasing the effectiveness of treatments and improving the quality of life of patients. Together with my colleagues and partners, we will continue to support prevention and patient care in Hungary with the knowledge and innovation accumulated at Novartis”
– said Beáta Smid regarding her appointment.
Péter Wintermantel, the Director of Public Relations, who previously also managed corporate communications, will focus on Novartis’ EU policy advocacy in addition to government relations, dividing his time between the Budapest and Brussels offices.
Novartis Hungary intends to place greater emphasis on both by separating communications and public relations at the executive level. The arrival of the Director of Communications also indicates that the company supports the assertion of patients’ interests with all means and is firmly committed to authentic information and strengthening professional relationships.
