New training series for Lake Balaton tourism: practice-oriented trainings in Keszthely
One of the keys to the development of tourism at Lake Balaton is increasing the competitiveness of service providers – a goal now supported by a targeted training series jointly launched by the Hungarian Tourism Academy and VisitBalaton365. Starting in May, the hands-on training sessions in Keszthely are specifically tailored to the needs of hospitality and tourism businesses operating around the lake.
Knowledge you can apply immediately
“For Balaton’s hospitality providers, it is increasingly challenging to stay up to date with rapidly changing tourism trends, digital transformation, and growing guest expectations.”
– said Krisztina Bacsi, professional director of the Hungarian Tourism Academy. She added that the goal of these hands-on trainings is to provide tangible, directly applicable knowledge for service providers.
The programs are coordinated by the regional destination management office of VisitBalaton365 in Keszthely, where participants can access information locally, without the need to travel – saving time, energy, and costs.
Training in the language of modern tourism
According to Teréz Horváth, head of the Keszthely DMSZ office, there are currently 1,500 year-round accommodation and hospitality businesses operating around Lake Balaton that believe in four-season tourism. “We hope that these trainings will encourage even more providers to remain open all year round,” she added.
The training sessions in May and June will cover the following topics:
1. Optimizing websites and ads using Google tools
📅 May 14, 2025 | 09:00–15:00
This session teaches participants—through practical examples—how to get the most out of using Google Ads, Analytics, and other digital tools.
2. Handling guest reviews professionally
📅 May 20, 2025 | 09:00–17:00
Managing online reviews is now a business necessity. Participants will learn how to turn guest feedback into new bookings.
3. Artificial Intelligence in tourism marketing
📅 May 28, 2025 | 09:00–14:00
An introduction to AI-based tools that can help generate dozens of marketing posts in just 15 minutes. Useful for both advanced and beginner marketers.
4. Communication and upselling techniques
📅 June 3, 2025 | 09:00–16:00
During this in-person training, participants will work through guest interaction scenarios they bring, with trainer feedback, while learning how effective communication can boost sales.
Goal: A four-season Balaton
“With this program, we want to help ensure that Balaton is not just a summer destination but remains attractive to visitors and service providers all year round,” emphasized Péter Princzinger, CEO of VisitBalaton365.
Registration for the trainings—offered at a discounted participation fee—has already started. Experts recommend securing your spot early, as group sizes are limited due to the practical format.
