GLS Hungary introduced a new convenience service
Parcel logistics service providers in Hungary are responding to the transformation of package handling preferences across Europe. With an expanding network of parcel vending machines across the country and the development of their services, they want to make it more convenient to receive and send parcels. In light of this, GLS Hungary introduced a new service on May 27, 2024, the purpose of which is to simplify and make the return process of products purchased online even more flexible, all with the help of GLS Vending Machines, without printing a label.
The change in consumer needs experienced in recent years also has a significant impact on the parcel logistics sector, one of the spectacular results of which is the continuous increase in the number of delivery points. Across Europe, more and more online shoppers prefer drop-off points to traditional home delivery. Half of the parcels in Poland and 70% of the parcels in the Czech Republic reach their recipients through transfer points. Parcel machines have a decisive role in this reorganization, which provide a high degree of flexibility, allowing consumers to pick up and drop off their parcels according to their own schedule.
According to the data of the market research company GKID, home delivery is still the most popular delivery method in Hungary, with 71% of packages requested by customers. However, the reorganization can also be felt in the domestic market. Service providers are also responding to the growing demand for flexibility and comfort. There are already more than 5,200 vending machines in Hungary, of which around 1,800, or one third of the total number, are operated by GLS. The company dynamically expands its network in order to make flexible package logistics solutions available to the widest possible range of people, and continuously improves its services based on customer feedback.
