Eventrend Group has signed a lease agreement with the owners of the Dunapark Café for the operation of the facility. Based on these, the renovation will begin soon, which will involve a temporary closure of the café for 1-2 months. The 88-year-old café is expected to be renovated and offer a new menu by the end of May at the latest.

The lease agreement was signed by representatives of Eventrend Group with the owners, Gábor Ruffy-Varga and Miklós Ruffy-Varga. The managing director of the leasing company is Bea Andó, and her professional mentors are Roland Tóth and Béla Nell. According to the owners, Eventrend’s commitment to historical values and the successful operation of similar gastronomic and café units provide a solid foundation for Dunapark’s next era.

The owners renovated and reopened Dunapark in 2006, which has been a defining player in Újlipótváros’ hospitality ever since. Dunapark is one of the most beautiful art deco grand cafés in the country. Opened in 1938 next to Szent István Park, the 88-year-old institution is a prominent venue for the capital’s café culture with its vast, bright interiors, floor-to-ceiling windows and rich historical past.

Gábor Nagy, one of the founding owners of Eventrend Group, said: the goal of Eventrend Group is to further strengthen Dunapark’s position with renewed content and offerings, while preserving architectural and historical values, which will make the café an even more attractive, lively meeting place for the local community.

Zoltán Kőrössy, also the founder and owner of Eventrend, added: the planning of the renovation is already underway. The concept builds on the existing clientele, the habits and feedback of regulars. The goal is to create an even stronger local community space that offers the residents, workers and visitors of Újlipótváros a café experience that is historically authentic, yet alive and filled with contemporary content. The richness of Budapest’s café culture is a unique value even in European comparison. According to the plans, Dunapark Café will close for a short time from April 15th to welcome its old and new guests renewed from mid-to-late May.

The owners of Eventrend confirmed: the mission of the group is to revitalize catering establishments with historical and architectural value, and to prove that these heritages can be attractive, filling gaps and unrepeatable community spaces in the 21st century.

Eventrend Group has more than three decades of experience in operating cafés, restaurants, hotels and event organization. The group currently has more than 30 projects and employs around 1,300 people. Nearly 25 gastronomic enterprises are affiliated with Eventrend Group, including New York Café, Centrál Café, Spoon the boat, Főőrség Café, Városliget Café, Séf Asztala, Symbol and Müpa catering services, as well as the sale of nearly 100 unique event rooms.
