A new president leads the National Food Chain Safety Office
As of August 23, Imre Nemes will assume the post of president at the head of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih), Márton Nobilis, the state secretary responsible for the food industry and trade policy, announced in a statement sent to MTI by the Ministry of Agriculture on Wednesday.
He noted: the challenges of recent years – the coronavirus epidemic, the war taking place next door – clearly pointed out the inescapable importance of food chain safety and supply security. Behind these significant areas are important target groups such as the community of livestock keepers and plant growers, the range of producers, from small producers to large-scale food industry companies. Their common characteristic is that in the fast-paced everyday life, amid the constantly changing consumer expectations, they have to face many difficulties and demands, which necessitates the strengthening of Nébih’s role as a professional helper and leader – stated the state secretary.
Márton Nobilis emphasized that, in the person of Imre Nemes, a specialist who knows the needs of the food chain will take the helm of Nébih. He also gained a lot of usable experience as the professional director of the Association of Hungarian Pig Breeders and Pig Keepers. At the same time, thanks to his duties as Nébih’s former deputy president, he is also unfamiliar with the operation and values of the office.
