A decisive vote will be held on the short-term apartment rental, Airbnb, in Budapest VI in September. district – the Terézváros municipality informed MTI on Thursday.
According to their statement, the residents of the district will be able to answer the following question: “Do you agree that in District VI we should prohibit the release of condominium apartments as Airbnb-type accommodations?”
Voting in the district is conducted by the local government based on the authorization received from the National Assembly, which has the option to limit the number of days an accommodation can be rented out in a year, they wrote.
They pointed out that since there is no legal instrument that could be used to verify that “an apartment can be rented out for 60, 75 or, for example, 130 days a year, therefore the residents can decide between a complete ban or keeping everything as it is.”
