Tourism agency: tourism exceeded the year 2022 last year
Last year, Hungarian tourism not only exceeded the results of the year 2022, but also reached, and sometimes even exceeded, the figures of the record year 2019 – announced Zoltán Guller, the chairman of the board of the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ), at the annual evaluation press conference held on the basis of preliminary data on Thursday in Budapest.
He pointed out: last year, almost 16 million tourists spent more than 41 million guest nights in Hungary, and accommodation and hospitality revenues grew by double digits, above inflation. Hungarian accommodation providers registered 1,300,000 more guest nights compared to 2022, which is an extraordinary result because, according to calculations, international conflicts reduced the number of guest nights by one million, he pointed out.
According to his description, the total revenue of the hotels reached HUF 860 billion, which was 23 percent higher than in 2022. Last year, guests spent 18 percent more, HUF 1,780 billion, in restaurants.
