Tourism Agency: the number of guest nights can reach 30 million this year

In the first ten months of this year, the tourists spent more than 1.6 million overnight stays in Hungary, than during entire last year, and if the dynamics of expansion persist in the last two months of the year, the number of guest nights may increase to 30 million – the CEO of the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ) told MTI on Wednesday.

Guller Zoltán, responding to the latest data of the Central Statistical Office (KSH), said that domestic tourism has grown remarkably in October, Hungarians not only traveled more but spent more. According to the data, domestic accommodation revenue increased by 21.5 percent. The impact of the long weekend of October 23 and the effect of the domestic traffic-boosting campaign could also have contributed to the outstanding domestic figures, he said. Hungarians spent 8.3 billion forints in October, with their SZÉP card 18 percent more, 1.3 billion forints for domestic rest. (MTI)
