Tourist agency: Tourinform offices can be renewed for one billion forints
The government is providing HUF 1 billion non-refundable support for the infrastructure and service development of domestic Tourinform offices, the operators of Tourinforms can apply for the tender involving around 90 offices across the country from May 15, the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ) told MTI on Monday.
As a reminder: the support is the second element of the 15 billion forint sector support scheme launched by the government in April, aimed at developing tourism and strengthening its competitiveness, consisting of three pillars. It was highlighted: around 2 million guest inquiries are handled by domestic Tourinform offices, which, in addition to providing information to guests, provide various services, and also play a prominent role in local tourism organization. In addition to being an important building block of the country and destination image, the network of almost 90 offices is also a key player and supporter of the domestic tourism institutional system, MTÜ stated.
According to the announcement, MTÜ has already started developing Tourinforms in recent years, so far a total of 32 offices have been renovated, worth about HUF 670 million. This work can now continue thanks to the government’s HUF 1 billion subsidy. Maintainers of offices with a Tourinform name-use contract can participate in the tender, and the grants they receive can be used for the infrastructural development of Tourinforms or their information points, for developments related to moving offices, as well as equipment acquisition and service expansion – they wrote.
