Anikó Túri: the population almost entirely used the “sleep money” on the SZÉP cards
The population has used almost all of the “sleep money” on the SZÉP cards, State Secretary for Public Administration Túri Anikó announced in a statement issued by the Ministry of Economic Development (GFM) on Wednesday.
In accordance with the government’s decision, in order to support the tourism and catering sector and to protect the significant number of jobs they maintain, it was possible until May 31, 2023 – without paying a 15 percent fee – to use the full amount credited on the SZÉP card until October 15, 2022, ” “stuck” amounts.
The state secretary emphasized: the measure was effective and efficient, thus it significantly contributed to the strengthening of tourism and hospitality, as the population used up nearly 90 percent of the previously experienced HUF 100 billion “sleep money” by the specified deadline.
“The government thanks the population for their cooperation, since with their cooperation approximately 90 billion forints have been channeled into the tourism and hospitality sectors, and thus into the Hungarian economy. This significantly helps to protect jobs and families in the current wartime.”
– said the state secretary.
