Innovative solutions and unique ideas are emerging in food processing every day. It is no wonder that the operation of an egg processing plant is also of interest to young inventors and researchers. So perhaps it is not so surprising that the Science Ambassadors visited Szigetscsép. Many may wonder: who are the Science Ambassadors?

To commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences this year, and to mark the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Library and Information Center next year, the National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NKFI) is looking for applications from young people aged 16-28 who like to work in a team, are open to learning new things, are curious, and communicate clearly and engagingly to the community. The most qualified applicants selected from them became the Scientific Ambassadors, whose task is to promote science and scientific work at the national level in 2025, the Year of Hungarian Science.

– Balázz Boncsarovszki and I, who is a food engineer like me, thought that we could show the Scientific Ambassadors interesting things regardless of the research field. For example, machines that automatically crack eggs and separate the white and yolk. Or that you can make a cow’s cheese alternative from egg white for people with milk protein allergies. We were not disappointed, the visit was a great experience for both us and the young people, we hope there will be many more similar opportunities – said Dr. Csaba Németh, food engineer, c. university professor, who welcomed the group.

Balázs Boncsarovszki, PhD student at the Department of Commodity Management, Trade, Supply Chain and Sensory Qualification at MATE-ÉTTI, successfully fulfilled the requirements for admission and was awarded the title of “Scientific Ambassador” announced by the National Innovation Agency. During his training, he came into contact with many food industry players, with whom he maintains a good relationship. Thus, it is expected that future researchers will visit several food processors and producers in the country.
