Conscious buyers do not go to the store when hungry
According to a statistic, carried out a few years ago, in Hungary, the population spent an average of 160 thousand HUF on food per year of which a significant portion (approximately 16 thousand HUF worth goods) ended in the garbage. Nationally, 400 thousand tons, or 100 kilograms per household ended in the trash each year. The European Commission's datas are worse; 25 percent of food bought by EU households ended as waste.
According to Cseh Balázs, President of the Hungarian Food Bank Association; the more developed a country is, the higher household food surpluses is generated. In contrast, in the poor African states, the most of the food is wasted, due to the deficiencies of cooling and delivery. (hirado.hu, Kossuth Rádió, Napközben)
