Lollipops instead of needles

Catalan healthcare start-up The Smart Lollipop has raised EUR 320,000 to begin the clinical trials and certification of its saliva-based, non-invasive diagnostic tool for children. Founded in 2017, the company’s objective is to speed up medical diagnostics, make it more accessible and child-friendly – with the help of a lollipop. The device can detect conditions such as celiac disease or high cholesterol level from a saliva sample.
