Trenkwalder: student workers can expect an average hourly wage of 8 percent higher this summer season
According to data from the ELTE-Trenkwalder School Cooperative in mid-May, employers are offering students an 8 percent higher hourly wage this year, averaging around 2,150 forints.
According to the employment agency’s statement on Tuesday, the average hourly wage for jobs in the hospitality and tourism sector can be 2,000 forints, which can exceed 2,500 in high season and in key tourist destinations.
Students can expect an average hourly wage of 2,100 forints for administrative tasks and office assistance, 2,150 forints in business service centers and call centers, and around 2,250 forints for manufacturing, logistics, and commercial tasks.
Higher hourly wages, even exceeding 3,000 forints, can be achieved at companies operating in the fields of IT, telecommunications, and business intelligence.
Due to the increase in public charges for simplified employment from February 1, the demand for students may increase in many segments, including seasonal work in agriculture and hospitality, whose cost advantage has become outstanding for employers, even with a further increase in hourly wages.
Another change compared to the past is that the dumping-like appearance of competition from the Far East has sent domestic e-commerce companies to the floor, which will require much fewer student jobs this year.
In addition, the IT sector also seems to be saturated, which has now more or less managed to deal with the previous permanent labor shortage
