Wineries can still count on Lidl
In 2022, Lidl Hungary contributed HUF 14.2 billion to the domestic and foreign sales of the Hungarian wine industry, which represents an increase of more than 60 percent compared to five years ago.
The company was able to further increase domestic sales of Hungarian wines, while domestic wines continued to perform well on export markets. Outstanding successes are indicated by the fact that between 2018-2022 more than HUF 60 billion was realized with domestic suppliers. The purpose of the supermarket chain is to stand as a stable partner for Hungarian wineries and wineries and thereby contribute to the development of the entire wine sector and the domestic economy.
The market-leading food retail chain decided nearly a decade ago that, as part of its “Lidl for Hungarian suppliers” program, it prioritizes the promotion of excellent Hungarian bottled wines, and in addition to increasing domestic sales, it also helps domestic wineries reach foreign markets through the Lidl Wine Expo. wineries.
The company’s efforts are well indicated by the fact that, despite the difficulties of the past period, Hungarian wines have maintained their competitiveness in both domestic and foreign Lidl stores, which is also decisive from the point of view of the entire domestic wine sector.
