Edeka remains Germany’s favorite grocery retailer
For the sixth consecutive year, Edeka has secured the top spot as Germany’s most popular grocery retailer, according to the latest Retailer Perception Monitor by market research firm YouGov. Globus and Marktkauf follow in second and third place.
According to the report presented by Lebensmittelpraxis Edeka scored high with consumers thanks to its fresh product selection and knowledgeable staff. Mid-ranking retailers saw shifts, with some improving due to innovation and modern shopping experiences, while others stagnated or declined.
In the drugstore segment, dm maintained a strong lead, driven by high satisfaction and loyalty scores. Among organic supermarkets, Alnatura retained its top position from last year.
Daniel Schönknecht of YouGov emphasized that a retailer’s image – especially trust and likability – is key to customer loyalty and long-term success.
The annual study, based on surveys of 7,000 households and real shopping data, evaluates over 20 retailers across six categories: assortment, image, store design, pricing, service, and location.
