Further help for livestock keepers affected by foot-and-mouth disease
Minister of Agriculture István Nagy has declared a force majeure situation due to the foot-and-mouth disease virus. This means that farmers do not need to submit a separate certificate with their applications for forced displacement. The aim is to mitigate the losses of affected livestock keepers as smoothly as possible.

According to the Minister, the force majeure situation applies to the entire territory of Győr-Moson-Sopron County, as well as to the Komárom, Esztergom and Tata districts in Komárom-Esztergom County, due to the foot-and-mouth disease disease officially recognized as of March 7.
The government aims to ensure the speedy recovery of affected farms while maintaining effective protection
Therefore, in addition to facilitating the submission of force majeure applications, the government will assume the salaries of employees of infected livestock farms from the state wage guarantee. A loan moratorium will also help livestock farmers, as the principal and interest repayments of loans will be suspended for one year for all affected livestock farmers. This will strengthen the restart of farms, which is currently a priority for the Hungarian national economy. Farmers who invested and developed did so partly on credit. That is why this quick and effective government measure is now necessary until the official measures related to the epidemic are withdrawn. After the exemption, once the danger has passed, it is important to encourage the replacement of livestock that has been forced to be liquidated. The government prefers and supports restocking with all its might in order to enable farmers to continue their livestock farming activities at the level they were before the infection.
