SUBWAY plans expansion in Ireland
Despite an economic downturn, Subway is planning major expansion in Ireland over the next two years.
The company currently has 181 outlets
across the country and plans to open 119 new ones by 2010, which will
see it create 1,300 new jobs. The chain already claims to have more
outlets in the country than McDonald's and the CEO and founder of the
Subway chain, Fred DeLuca, described Subway's performance in Ireland
as 'phenomenal'. A company spokesman said it is hoped an outlet will
be in every major town and city throughout the island by 2010. A new
Subway head office, which will report to the European headquarters in
Amsterdam, is also set to open in Ireland.
