Consumer expectations continue to deteriorate
According to the GKI Consumer Confidence Index, consumers continued to get more pessimistic in April. Consumer confidence has been deteriorating since the winter of 2008. Expectations regarding unemployment in the next 12 months showed the most substantial decline in April. Inflation and economic prospects in general were also seen more pessimistically. 15 percent of the population is getting indebted and 11 percent is living up its savings. Only 9 percent continues to be able to save money.
