Economic sentiment further deteriorated in the euro zone
The business and consumer sentiment in the euro zone was worse-than-expected and decreased in August, – shows the datas of the European Commission, released on Thursday. This is the fifth month when the index decreased and now it is the lowest since the end of 2009.
The composite economic sentiment indicator (ESI) was 86.1 points in August, after the 87.9 points of July, while analysts expected 87.6 points. In July, the index fell by two points compared to June.
The consumer confidence index decreased to minus 24.6 points in August, after the minus 21.5 points of July and the minus 19.8 points of June proper to the expectations of analysts. (MTI)
