The number of HÍR trademarked products has continued to increase
At the 11th Day of Producers’ Communities, nine new applicants with fifteen products have been granted the right to use the Traditions – Flavours – Regions (HÍR) certification mark. With these new additions, the number of certified products proudly carrying the HÍR label has risen to 253.
By organizing the Day of Producers’ Communities annually, the Ministry of Agriculture aims to support cooperation and community-building among farmers by showcasing best practices and facilitating the exchange of knowledge.
Our traditional and region-specific products form an integral part of our cultural heritage and contribute to strengthening local identity. Distinguishing them with certification marks and geographical indications provides producers with a unique tool to credibly differentiate their goods from mass-produced items in a highly competitive market. Following the acquisition of these certifications, the next crucial step is utilization — promoting the products through targeted marketing and promotional programs. In this phase as well, the role of producer communities is essential.
The objective of the Traditions–Flavours–Regions (HÍR) Program is to increase the visibility and market access of traditional and region-specific products. The Ministry of Agriculture operates the HÍR Program as a preparatory platform for the Geographical Indications Program. The call for HÍR certification is open exclusively to traditional and region-specific products. This year, 15 new products earned the right to use the HÍR label, bringing the total to 253 certified products.
During the Day of Producers’ Communities, exhibitors from various Hungarian regions showcased their HÍR-certified products. This year, special attention was given to the regional producer communities that were awarded the Traditions – Flavours – Regions prize at OMÉK:
• From the Northern Great Plain region: the Civilek a Lakóhelyért Egyesület from Hajdúböszörmény
• From the Southern Great Plain: the Orosháza és Térsége Gazdakör
• From Central Transdanubia: the Magyarpolány German Nationality Association
The HÍR regional centers play a key role in strengthening local producer communities by presenting best practices, sharing traditional knowledge and facilitating the exchange of experience.
