At the meeting, the parties reviewed the current situation of Hungarian and Lao agriculture and animal husbandry, the existing cooperation agreements between the two countries, and also discussed the further development of bilateral relations. It was stated at the meeting that the cooperation between the two countries can be strengthened in many areas: our country sees potential in the development of systems and technologies for the cultivation of fodder crops, feed production, animal husbandry and fish production, as well as meat processing in Laos – emphasized Sándor Farkas. The deputy minister emphasized that the tied aid loans provided by the Hungarian government to Laos (KSH programs) provide an excellent background for the implementation of these cooperation projects. In recent years, a total of three agreements have been signed, worth about 198.6 billion dollars, explained Sándor Farkas. He added that Hungarian companies have played a very important role in the development of agriculture, water management and electronic public administration in Laos in recent years.
The meeting also discussed the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program, which contributes directly to the strengthening of diplomatic and economic relations between Hungary and Laos
In connection with the program operating under the aegis of KKM, 150 Lao students can study in Hungary every year. They also agreed that Hungary would also welcome Laotian students in agriculture and environmental protection. The parties also reviewed cooperation opportunities in the field of joint trade relations. They agreed that it is necessary to find opportunities that are beneficial for both countries.
