We are further strengthening our agricultural relations with Japan
The friendship of Japan and the agricultural market of the Far Eastern country are of paramount importance to our country, which is why we will further strengthen our existing relations – said István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture, who received Hikariko Ono, the Japanese Ambassador to Hungary, in his office.
At the meeting, the Minister drew attention to the fact that Hungary has effectively and successfully fulfilled its EU presidency tasks over the past six months. We have found the points of intersection that bring the 27 members of the union to a common position. During the Hungarian presidency, we adopted Council conclusions with the unanimous support of the member states, which provide direction for decision-makers on the farmer-centered Common Agricultural Policy after 2027 – he added.
István Nagy also discussed economic and animal health issues at the meeting. The Ministry of Agriculture is working to ensure that as many processed mangalica products as possible can appear in Japan, and therefore the current export must be further accelerated. In addition, Hungarian honey is also in great demand in the Far Eastern country, which we would like to strengthen – emphasized István Nagy. The minister also sees serious economic opportunities in our country’s participation in the Osaka World Expo. Educational issues were also discussed during the meeting, as 600 Japanese students are currently studying in Hungarian educational institutions.
István Nagy also mentioned during the meeting that Hungary is renewing the entire agricultural sector by using historical resources. Our goal is to further increase the proportion of processed products thanks to the development of the food industry.
