Pork may become more expensive in the coming months

In the case of meat, we can expect a 10 percent price increase after the introduction of the price cap, primarily in the price of pork, but it is also quite certain that the price of poultry will not decrease either – agricultural economist György Raskó explained in RTL News.

Fodder is cheaper because the grain delivery from the war-torn Ukraine has started, so the price of dairy products is falling all over Europe. Moreover, due to the strengthening of the forint, Hungarian traders can import foreign products at a more favorable price than before. At the same time, inflation may decrease significantly only in the second half of the year – based on the central bank’s recent analysis. Butter is already 15 percent cheaper than at the end of last year.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said a few days ago that the food price freeze will only be implemented if inflation slows down permanently and convincingly – RTL News reported.
