Pig population can decrease further
The pork industry is in crisis again. Due to their losses, the farmers are forced to reduce the number of their animals or forced to eliminate jobs and close their plants – says Sákán Antal, president of the Association of Hungarian Pig holders in his communication. The producers are expecting urgent actions from the government.
Pig farmers are forced to carry out drastic stock reductions because pig breeding produces huge losses again. The bad trends of the past years have come again with high, 6 to 7,000 HUF/100 kg corn prices, and 16 000 HUF/100 kg soybean prices. So the price of one kilogram of feed is around 100 HUF / kg.
