The 30th Advent Fundraiser of the Ecumenical Aid Organization in Tesco, announced in 2025, ended with a historic success, breaking all previous records. Thanks to the unprecedented cooperation of customers and employees, a total of 107 million forints worth of donation coupons were sold, which is a worthy crowning of the organization’s three decades of helping work.
Tesco participated in the Ecumenical Aid Society’s Advent Fundraising for the 16th time, which was announced for the thirtieth time at the end of last year. The campaign, which took place in Tesco stores, ended with a record-breaking result of 107 million forints. Between November 17 and December 31, 2025, customers purchased 357 thousand 300 forint donation coupons at the store checkouts. The largest number of them – 15,648 – were sold at the Mátészalka hypermarket. The collected financial support not only exceeds last year’s, but is also the greatest success in the history of the fundraising so far. The result clearly shows that the power of personal assistance and solidarity can grow year after year.
“The generosity we have experienced this year is impressive. I think we could not have ended the 30th anniversary Advent Fundraiser of our partner, the Ecumenical Relief Organization, in a more fitting way than with such a fantastic record. A huge thank you goes to our customers and colleagues – the largest fundraising team in the country – who proved day after day at the checkouts that when the need is greatest, unity is also greatest. I am proud that the Tesco community is capable of such a miracle”
– said Nóra Hevesi, Head of Communications at Tesco Hungary.
The record-breaking amount of support opens up new horizons for the Ecumenical Aid Organization, giving them the opportunity to continue their relief work and effectively support even more families in need, both during the winter months and throughout the year.
“The result is a huge gift for us, as we can help many families in need throughout the year. The amount of coupons sold does not only mean numbers, but also thousands of well-fed children, heated homes and a chance, a way out of hopelessness. The unprecedented collaboration gives our work a lot of strength and proves that the solidarity of Hungarian society is stronger than ever,”
added Kristóf Gáncs, Executive Director of the Ecumenical Aid Organization.
