Beer consumption in the Czech Republic is at an all-time low
Beer consumption in the Czech Republic reached a historic low in 2023.
Czech breweries brewed 20 million hectoliters of beer last year, 2.7 percent less than the previous year. Beer consumption per person fell from 136 liters to 128 liters, which is an unprecedentedly low number, according to the annual report of the Czech breweries association, which was published by the CTK news agency on Tuesday.
According to the association’s analysis, beer consumption is adversely affected by continued economic uncertainty and changes in consumer habits.
“The annual brewing data is below the level of 2010 for the fourth year in a row. Unfortunately, the favorable change hoped for last year was negatively affected by the continued economic uncertainty, which also affected restaurant consumption. This trend is particularly strong in smaller towns and villages.”
Tomás Slunecko, the organization’s director, pointed out to the news agency.
