The price of root parsley in Poland is at a historic high
At the beginning of October, there was a slight price drop in the root parsley market in Poland. Even though prices have decreased somewhat, vegetable prices are still at historic highs, and the situation is fraught with further uncertainty. According to market forecasts, the crop yield may drop significantly: the summer estimates were for a crop of 150,000 tons, however, according to the latest September forecast of the Polish Statistical Office (GUS), the actual yield may only be around 126,000 tons, reports Agrárszektor.
The development of prices is closely related to the harvest of root parsley, which usually results in a slight price drop with the arrival of autumn. The decrease in the price of ground, uncleaned parsley may indicate that the price of cleaned, bagged products may also decrease in the near future, since a natural price wave during the harvest season is usually observed during autumn.
However, GUS’s forecasted yield estimates may be cause for concern, as the reduced yield may have a significant impact on prices as well. The question is, therefore, whether the price drop seen at the beginning of October will continue in the longer term, or whether the price of root parsley will start to rise again soon. For consumers and producers alike, it will be decisive what direction the market takes in the coming weeks and how well the autumn harvest alleviates supply problems and stabilizes prices.
