”I deleted the internet” – 7+1 funny stories about IT customer service
Almost every IT professional has funny (and not so funny) stories about bugs reported by colleagues. We’ve heard of someone mistaking a disk drive for a cup holder, and we’ve even had someone manage to “wipe” the internet. TOPdesk has just collected 7+1 customer service stories from among the strangest, which show that there is always something to laugh about in customer service.
1. The faulty printer
The report came from a broken printer. On the surface, this seems like an average request we might get in customer service work. However, when it turns out that the whistleblower put the stack of paper in the printer’s paper tray without unpacking it, it’s hard to keep a poker face.
2. False sense of security
Everyone knows that the right password is vital to keeping company data secure. But in practice, not all users take this as seriously as they should… When solving a problem, we realize that the whistleblower’s password is the same as his username, then the question arises, why did we spend so much time educating colleagues on the subject of IT security. And the icing on the cake is when it turns out that the given device belongs to an IT manager.
3. Right hemisphere reading exercise
The subject of the error ticket is “My spacebar is broken.”
Error description: “Can I get a new keyboard so I can work?”
We’ll just leave it here, without any explanation or comment.
