Turkey had its most successful tourism year ever in 2024
Turkey closed its most successful tourism year ever in 2024, welcoming 62.2 million visitors and generating $61.1 billion (24,110 billion forints) in revenue, the Turkish Tourism and Development Agency (TGA) told MTI on Tuesday.
The number of visitors to the country increased by 9.8 percent compared to the previous year and was 20.3 percent higher than in 2019. Tourism revenue exceeded the previous year by 8.3 percent, it said. Foreign visitors spent an average of 10.7 days in the country, spending $972 per person, it said.
According to the information, European, Middle Eastern and Central Asian markets remained the main sending regions for Turkey, while emerging markets also registered significant growth. The number of visitors from the United States increased by 8.1 percent, from China by 65.1 percent, and from India by 20.7 percent, but the largest numbers continued to come from Russia, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
The number of visitors from Hungary to Turkey increased by 13.38 percent to 252,066 last year.
