Prices have not only risen in our country, but almost everywhere in the world – although it is a fact that we are at the forefront of food price increases based on OECD data. While at home the costs of everyday shopping increased by 23.1 percent, in the United States, for example, by 12.2 percent. However, now it doesn’t cost much more to go shopping overseas than at home.

Everyone feels that inflation has skyrocketed: the average annual price increase in Hungary rose to 13.7 percent by July 2022. The most expensive product is 200-250 gram milk margarine, the average price of which has become 81 percent higher this year than it was in July 2021. The second place in the peak price increase was only one percent behind the leading margarine: a kilo of pastry flour is now 80 percent more expensive on average than it was last year – the Money Center points out.

Of course, this does not only cause problems at home: high food and energy prices and the continuous worsening of supply chain problems have resulted in inflation constantly rising all over the world, and even the world’s strongest economies have not escaped serious monetary deterioration. Among others, the United States is also feeling the rise in prices, the 8.5% value in July broke a decades-old record.
