WING, one of the leading real estate development and investment groups in the Central European real estate market, has received serious professional recognition. The Hungarian Section of the International Federation of Real Estate Companies (FIABCI) announced the Hungarian Real Estate Development Excellence Award Competition for the twenty-seventh time this year, at which the company’s Liget Center project also won multiple awards. The gala was held on November 21 at the Danubius Hotel, where the most outstanding developments in the domestic real estate industry were recognized.

The goal of the Paris-based FIABCI is to present outstanding real estate developments on an international level, to encourage professional knowledge sharing and cooperation. The competition of its Hungarian Section is one of the most prestigious awards in the domestic real estate industry, which aims to recognize the outstanding work of domestic developers and present their projects to a professional and wider audience. The award-winning Hungarian developments automatically qualified for the prestigious FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence competition.

At the awards ceremony held on November 21, WING received several awards for the renovation of Liget Center. The project won first prize in its category and shared third place among all the entries for the outstanding quality of the development. The professional jury also awarded WING the special prize of Irodakerešť.info and the special prize of the Hungarian Construction Association.

The project included the complete, exceptionally complex reconstruction of the listed Liget Center Classic and Auditorium, as well as the construction of a new, six-story, premium boutique office building, Liget Center Vitrum. The renovation of the former MÉMOSZ (National Association of Hungarian Construction Workers) headquarters was both an exemplary work of heritage protection and architecture, as a result of which one of the special buildings of Hungarian modernism was reborn as a modern office complex.

The company placed special emphasis on environmental awareness during construction and operation: it chose green, modern and monument-protection-compliant materials, taking into account environmental awareness and long-term sustainable operation. The elements of the building complex received an “A” or higher energy efficiency rating, the Vitrum building has a BREEAM “Very Good” rating, the entire project operates with 100% green electricity, and the more than 70-year-old Auditorium was reborn as a building with nearly zero energy consumption. Renewable energy sources, heat pump systems, modern building management solutions and green roofs support environmentally friendly operation in the Liget Center.

During the renovation, WING preserved the modernist character of the original buildings, while providing the building with contemporary features and state-of-the-art technological and energy solutions. The project was designed by TIBA Építész Stúdió, the general construction was carried out by WORKUP, the specialized business unit of FITOUT, the landscape architecture was carried out by S73 Stúdió, and the interior design of the RTL areas was carried out by LAB5 architects. The Liget Center Classic and Auditorium buildings have been used by the news directorate, studios and offices of RTL Hungary since the summer of 2024, and the renowned international law firm Wolf Theiss will move into the Classic building in early 2026, while the brand new Vitrum building offers modern office space in the city center.

The development of the Liget Center is a defining element of the renewed city district of Városliget and Dózsa György út. The project contributed to the preservation and enrichment of the cultural and architectural heritage of the area: WING restored István Tar’s “Builders” relief and restored Dezső Lányi’s “Construction Workers” sculpture, thereby strengthening Budapest’s artistic identity. The project is significant not only from an architectural but also from an urban development perspective, as the intersection of the City Park Avenue and Dózsa György Street, the villa district of the Avenue, and the renewed City Park, together with the Ethnographic Museum, have become one of the most valuable points of Budapest.
