Foreigners spend more in Hungary, than Hungarians abroad

In the first half of 2009, the total foreign consumption was 544 billion HUF, 21 percent more than the same period of 2008. Hungarians visiting abroad, spent HUF 379 billion HUF, a quarter more than a year earlier.

In the first six months of this year, 17.9 million foreigners visited Hungary. Seventy-eight percent of them stayed for one day. The number of visitors increased by 5.5 percent, including the daily number of arrivals which has increased much more dynamic. Foreigners spent a total of 41.1 million days in Hungary, 4 percent more than in the first half of 2008 – reports Central Statistical Office.
