Several tons of counterfeit foodstuffs were seized in the EU
Europol agents confiscated hundreds of tons of counterfeit or poor-quality food during coordinated raids in recent days.
As the European Police annonced the raids were carried out in Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Turkey and in the United Kingdom at ports, airports and shops.
Among other things 13,000 bottles of low-grade olive oil, 30 tons of fake tomato sauce, 77 tons of counterfeit cheese, 12,000 bottles of substandard wine and 30,000 low-grade chocolate tables were confiscated. During Europol's action, several people were detained and further detentions is expected to be carried out – reports Világgazdaság Online.
