Hundreds celebrated the grand opening of Hungary’s first Popeyes® restaurant in Budapest

Popeyes®, the world-famous chicken brand from New Orleans, has officially arrived in Hungary: it opened its first restaurant in the Westend shopping center in Budapest. Hundreds of guests attended the opening, many of whom lined up early in the morning to be the first to taste the brand’s iconic Cajun-spiced The Chicken Sandwich, which arrived by helicopter in a huge box to the top of the Westend, where it was greeted by a jazz band.

Popeyes® is known worldwide for its bold Cajun seasoning and The Chicken Sandwich, which caused a huge sensation in the United States in 2019. At the opening, guests were also able to taste the brand’s legendary product, in which the chicken is marinated in a unique spice blend for at least 12 hours, then hand-breaded and fried until golden brown, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

The opening was reminiscent of the brand’s New Orleans roots: the sandwich was delivered by helicopter to a live jazz band, and the celebration continued in the Westend food court, where the first 100 guests were treated to special surprises. Popeyes®’s signature flavors and fun, festive atmosphere made the opening day unforgettable.
