McDonald’s IT system failed in several countries
A core IT system at McDonald’s has failed, causing technical problems at many restaurants in Japan, Australia and Hong Kong.
In the Hong Kong network of the franchise, for example, mobile and kiosk orders do not work, while in Japan several places have stopped taking orders, both in person and by mobile. A McDonald’s spokesperson acknowledged the issue and said they are working to resolve the situation as soon as possible.
Due to the disruptions, customers trying to shop at individual restaurants reported different experiences: some where everything was fine, while others found it impossible to make any purchases, whether online or by ordering from a drive-thru. The background of the incident is a failure of the IT system, which causes interruptions in the restaurant’s operation.
McDonald’s is working to restore the system as soon as possible and ensure a smooth shopping experience for its customers.
