The Budapest Wholesale Market had opened in 1991 and last year 460,566 tons of produce was sold there by farmers and wholesalers. In the last 27 years the number of seller space renting wholesalers multiplied to reach 228 in 2018. In the May-September high season 3,200-4,000 vehicles enter the market every day. 2,465 farmers regularly sell their produce here and there are 7,215 regular retailer buyers. The Budapest Wholesale Market manages selectively collected waste on 1,800m². CEO Zoltán Házi talked about future plans: goals include creating the conditions for fruit and vegetable processing, establishing better selling conditions, creating more loading space for large vehicles and offering storage capacity to farmers. //
