Consumer confidence in the euro area has reached its sixteen-year peak in September
Instead of the expected stagnation, consumer confidence in the euro area has reached its sixteen-year peak in September, according to a preliminary estimate published by the European Commission on Thursday.
The consumer confidence index rose by 0.3 points to minus 1.2 in the 19 countries of the zone. Analysts expected a stagnation after the minus 1.5 points in August. The data for the September rapid estimate is the best since April 2001, when the indicator was minus 1 point. (MTI)
