The number of e-commerce customs procedures can grow to more than a hundredfold within two years
The number of e-commerce-related customs procedures in Hungary will increase by more than hundredfold within two years after the European Union regulation provides tax liability for low-value packages coming from outside the EU from 2021 – the Association of Hungarian Logistics Service Centers (MLSZKSZ) and the Hungarian Customs Association (MVSZ) warns.
The two professional organizations in their joint announcement told MTI that according to the current regulations, no VAT should be paid for goods arriving outside the European Union if their value is less than 22 euros. All this has given many opportunities for abuse, by writing much smaller value on the package, which has resulted in a significant loss of revenue for the EU and the Member States. (MTI)
