More than two thousand dairy farms to receive new support

With this support, the dairy sector has received a total of nearly 45 billion forints since the end of last year to offset the still very unfavorable market conditions, announced István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture, on his social media page. The Minister highlighted that, thanks to the government’s latest decision affecting the sector, this new payment complements the targeted support worth around 38 billion forints since the end of last year, which was also used to alleviate the difficulties of the affected farmers. In the recent period, both EU and domestic support sources have arrived earlier than usual for the affected farmers, as the government is monitoring the development of the milk market crisis affecting dairy farmers following consultations with the sector’s stakeholders, added István Nagy. World market trends are still not favorable to dairy farmers, as purchase prices have remained low, while production costs are rising and export opportunities are narrowing. The government therefore continues to place great emphasis on preserving the stability of the domestic dairy sector and improving the operating conditions of farmers, emphasized the Minister of Agriculture.
