Inflation in Greece slowed to a more than two-year low in September
Annual inflation in Greece slowed to 1.6 percent in September, the lowest since July 2021, from 2.7 percent in August, according to data published on the website of the Greek statistical office, ELSTAT.
Contributing to the moderation of the annual increase in consumer prices was the slow increase in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, clothing, consumer durables, and household appliances. In addition, the annual growth rate of health, recreation and cultural services, as well as hotel and restaurant prices, also slowed down in September. On the other hand, the prices of transport and education rose at an accelerating rate in annual comparison.
Compared to the previous month, consumer prices increased by 1.8 percent in September after the stagnation recorded in August.
