The Romanian grape harvest fell by more than one-fifth last year
Last year, the grape harvest in Romania decreased by 20.8 percent. The planted area shrank by 0.6 percent compared to the year before – the Romanian national statistical institute announced on Tuesday.
The decrease was due to yield decline. Last year, grapes were grown on a total of 177 thousand hectares in Romania, which was a one thousand hectares smaller area, compared to 2013.
The grape harvest was 206 thousand tonnes smaller, compared to 2013. Last year, 786 thousand tonnes of grapes were grown in Romania. (MTI)
