More than one billion bottles of champagne – Törley is 140 years old
Törley Pezsgőpincészet Kft. has produced more than one billion bottles of champagne since its founding, i.e., on August 1, 1882. On the occasion of its 140th birthday, the company compiled a report of its performance covering three centuries from the available data and information.
Based on the available data and information, Törley Pezsgőpincészet Kft. and its legal predecessors have bottled around 825 million liters of champagne since their founding in 1882, that is, in more than 140 years. This amount of champagne would be enough to fill a little more than 300, 50-meter competition swimming pools. It is perhaps even more telling that the 50-meter swimming pools currently available in Budapest could be filled nearly 50 times without any problems. But let’s stick to the celebration! Its performance of 140 years would be enough for almost three-quarters of the current population of the Earth, 5.5 billion people, to toast at the same time.
“We are very proud of the 140th anniversary of our founding. If only because few domestic companies have a history and tradition similar to Törley’s. Moreover, champagne making is not just an occupation, we believe that it is also an art. That is why it is our duty to cherish and remember our traditions, since Törley is the oldest champagne-making company in today’s Hungary. That is why we tried to compile and present our history of almost a century and a half in numbers. And these quantities often surprised us too”
– said Tamás Lőrik, brand manager of Törley Pezsgőpincészet Kft.
