Farmers have received more than 382 billion forints in funding by the end of 2024
Thanks to the necessary financial and professional conditions created by the government, 149.2 thousand producers were able to receive advance and installment payments under 22 titles from the subsidies applied for in the framework of the 2024 unified application in the period between October 16 and December 31, 2024. The total year-end payment of 382.4 billion forints exceeded the amount in 2023 by a quarter, or about 80 billion forints, which is particularly important due to the difficulties of the past period in financing the work of producers.
The largest amount was paid under the basic support title, 143.5 thousand farmers received 203.6 billion forints. The funds disbursed under the redistributive support are also significant, 143 thousand producers received 60.6 billion forints. Production-related subsidies for livestock farming and the fruit and vegetable sector amounted to HUF 33 billion, which is a help for approximately 41 thousand farmers to ensure the continuity of production.
In the case of programs promoting environmentally conscious farming announced within the framework of the Common Agricultural Policy, the affected producers also received significant resources. In the case of the Agri-Environmental Management (AKG) support program, HUF 48.7 billion was paid to 11,4 thousand farmers, while in the case of organic farming support, HUF 13.5 billion was paid to 2,7 thousand producers.
Based on these, in the case of direct agricultural subsidies, 96 percent of farmers received an advance payment until the end of 2024, while payments were made to 46 percent of producers applying for agricultural and rural development subsidies related to the single application.
The subsidies paid provide significant assistance to farmers in counteracting external factors that negatively affect the profitability of their agricultural activities, such as the unpredictable climatic environment or market difficulties.
