Visit Hungary’s winter campaign has started with more than 300 places to stay
Visit Hungary’s national campaign to stimulate domestic traffic in the autumn-winter period has started, in which more than 300 accommodation providers across the country are participating – the subsidiary of the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ), Visit Hungary Zrt., told MTI on Monday.
Regardless of the number of nights spent, the relevant service providers provide a 20 percent discount from the beginning of January to the end of February to their guests who also pay for their accommodation with a SZÉP card. The offer of accommodation participating in the initiative can be found on the website www.csodasmagyarorszag.hu.
The announcement quoted Oliver Csendes, the CEO of Visit Hungary, who said that one of the goals of the campaign was to encourage the spending of the SZÉP card, that although the card holders used more than 327 billion forints in the first 9 months of the year, at the end of September there were still 92 billion forints on the cards available, because uploads also increased at the same time.
They also mentioned that, based on the guest traffic statistics of recent years, more and more Hungarians are spending Christmas and the last days of the year domestically. However, based on the data of the National Tourist Information Center (NTAK), after the holiday season, domestic tourism demand in Hungary tends to decline.
They pointed out that to balance the quieter period at the beginning of the year, to encourage January-February bookings, Visit Hungary launched its national marketing campaign.
