Nébih imposed a fine of more than HUF 3 million on beach buffets and street food vendors
During the summer seasonal inspection of beach buffets and places selling street food, the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) imposed HUF 3.3 million fines in 48 procedures, and 205 kilograms of food, worth HUF 703,000, were withdrawn from circulation.
According to the authority’s statement, the nationwide inspection covering 346 catering establishments ended with mixed results.
The specialists found expired products in many units, and problems also arose regarding the hygienic conditions, the storage and monitoring of raw materials, and the verification of the health fitness of the workers.
In 11.5 percent of the cases, deficiencies in cleaning and the lack of supplies for disinfecting hand washing were experienced, and in 10.2 percent of catering establishments, the storage of ready meals was a problem.
Almost every tenth catering establishment lacked the workers’ health book, and the lack of disinfecting dishes was a problem in 8.7 percent of the inspections. The official inspectors found in several cases (7 percent) that the monitoring of raw materials was not ensured, and that products with expired shelf life and shelf life were stored.
