More than half of Lidl’s customers already use the market-leading supermarket chain’s digital loyalty program, Lidl Plus, which saved Hungarian households 22.7 billion forints last year. The data clearly shows that users who regularly used the Lidl Plus app during their shopping could save the price of one or two purchases per year in 2025.

In addition to everyday living costs, conscious shopping has become a key issue for households. Lidl Hungary introduced its digital loyalty program, Lidl Plus, in 2021 to provide its customers with a user-friendly service that makes shopping easier and simpler, while also helping them save money. The company’s experience shows that domestic customers are extremely price-sensitive, and it is also clear that customers increasingly view digital discounts as financial assistance.

“The data proves that Lidl Plus is now an essential part of family budget planning, as 22.7 billion forints remained directly with Hungarian people during 2025. The results clearly highlight that regular Lidl Plus users were able to save a significant amount: customers who reached the top 10 percent of savings were able to save an average of 50,000 forints using the application last year,” highlighted Tibor Kovács, Marketing and Customer Experience Director of Lidl Hungary, and then added: “The cornerstone of our business strategy is to offer high-quality products at affordable prices accessible to everyone. Lidl Plus is built on this stable foundation, which, in addition to our already favorable prices, offers additional, direct financial advantage for our customers. As a market-leading food chain – based on our 2025 sales revenue – we continue to work to remain a stable economic pillar for Hungarian households with our pricing policy”.

The popularity of the innovative application is shown by the fact that half of customers already use it regularly, but there are still untapped opportunities in activating personalized coupons and monitoring rewards for spending goals. These can be additional resources that help customers, for example, to get their favorite products at a better price, receive a gift product or a discount at the end of the bill. In addition to digital discounts, an important element of Lidl Plus is the “cashier coupon”, which, by encouraging the use of self-service checkouts, saves not only money but also time for those who want to do their shopping quickly and easily. It is also worth setting your favorite store, as this way users can also be informed about unique, local promotions.

In addition to discounts, the application also helps with practical functions in everyday life. Thanks to digital receipts, there is no need to keep paper-based blocks, and receipts that can be retrieved in the system are also accepted for returns and warranty procedures. The interface also includes a digital flyer, shopping list and Lidl kitchen recipes. In addition, those driving electric cars can also charge their vehicles in the parking lots of the stores through the application, at a favorable price.
