The government strengthens the domestic agriculture with more than 1,000 billion forints of development resources

The implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan has reached an important milestone: within the framework of the investment calls for the new EU agricultural support cycle, support decisions worth more than 1,000 billion forints have already been made, based on almost 6,300 submitted applications. The government aims to further strengthen the competitiveness of Hungarian agriculture with these developments, said István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture.

The minister emphasized that agricultural and rural development payments are progressing at a better pace than ever before, as while in 2024 the agricultural public administration paid 1,273 billion forints, in 2025, almost twenty percent more, a total of 1,509 billion forints. It is also a significant step forward in terms of maintaining the solvency of farmers that in the case of direct agricultural subsidies, over 640 billion forints were paid to farmers who submitted a single application by the end of February, which is almost 28 percent more than the 139 billion forints paid in the same period last year. The Minister also highlighted that, following the government decision made 5 years ago, we are providing farmers with an outstanding 80 percent domestic co-financing for EU subsidies, which enables greater allocation of resources than ever before in connection with rural development calls. These investment funds go to small and medium-sized farmers and agricultural and food industry enterprises with large production volumes. This is the guarantee for the development of Hungarian agriculture and food industry, which guarantees the security of domestic supply in the long term – added István Nagy.
